Introduction

Azithromycin is an antibiotic drug widely used in clinical practice. It has the advantages of broad antibacterial spectrum, less irritation to the gastrointestinal tract, and fast oral absorption. It is used by both adults and children. Azithromycin has less side effects than cephalosporin antibiotics, and is currently the most commonly used antibiotic drug for the treatment of bacterial infection-related diseases in hospitals in my country. This drug belongs to the second-generation semi-synthetic derivative of macrolides. Unlike erythromycin, it inserts a methyl group to replace the nitrogen at the 9a position of the erythromycin lactone ring, resulting in a 15-membered macrolide.

Use

●  Macrolide antibiotics, a 15-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring, have a similar antibacterial mechanism to erythromycin, but have a broader antibacterial spectrum. The antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria is stronger, and the antibacterial activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Haemophilus influenzae, Salmonella, Escherichia coli, Shigella, etc. is also stronger.
