4-Terpene alcohols occur naturally in turpentine oil, lavender oil, and various fruits. Liquid, with spicy, earthy, green and woody aromas. It can be prepared from sabinene by dilute sulfuric acid hydration, or from terpinolene by light oxidation, hydrogenation reduction, and selective hydrogenation.
Acute toxicity data: oral LD50 (rat) > 1.3g/kg skin test LD50 (rabbit) > 2.5g/kg
Application: used as ingredients of skin care lotion and shower gel; used as ingredients of mint candy and other food additives; intermediates of antibacterial agents; intermediates of preservatives; fragrance ingredients of rose oil and geranium oil formula.
