Introduction

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) contains 4 carboxyl groups and can generally form di-, tri-, and tetra-salts. Common EDTA salts are ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium (EDTA-2Na), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid tetrasodium (EDTA-4Na), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid dipotassium (EDTA-2K) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid trisodium Potassium (EDTA-3K). Tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA-4Na) is a multifunctional small organic molecule containing amino and carboxyl groups, which is widely used in analytical chemistry as a complexing agent. It is widely available and cheap.
