Product name: Calcium formate
CAS number: 544-17-2
Molecular formula: C2H2CaO4
EINECS number: 208-863-7
White crystals or crystalline powder. The Ph value of 1mol/L aqueous solution is 6.0-7.5. Decomposes at 400℃. Easily soluble in water (16.5g/100ml, 20℃; 18.4g/100ml, 100℃).
White crystals or crystalline powder, soluble in water, non-deliquescent, good flowability.
Calcium formate is a new type of feed additive suitable for weaned piglets. The nutritional effect of calcium formate is mainly achieved through the formic acid decomposed in the gastric acid environment. It mainly improves the growth performance of weaned piglets in the following ways:
1. Lowering the pH of the gastrointestinal tract is conducive to activating pepsinogen, making up for the lack of digestive enzymes and hydrochloric acid secretion in the piglet stomach, and improving the digestibility of feed nutrients.
2. Maintaining a lower pH value in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby preventing the massive growth and reproduction of Escherichia coli and other pathogenic bacteria, while promoting the growth of some beneficial bacteria (such as lactobacillus)! It produces volatile fatty acids in the cecum and colon to act as antibiotics! In addition, beneficial bacteria such as lactobacillus can cover the intestinal mucosa! So that it is not invaded by toxins produced by Escherichia coli! Thus preventing diarrhea related to bacterial infection.
3. It can act as a chelating agent during the digestion process! It can promote the intestinal absorption of minerals, improve the energy utilization of natural metabolites, improve feed conversion rate, prevent diarrhea and dysentery, and improve the survival rate and daily weight gain rate of piglets. At the same time, calcium formate also has the effect of preventing mildew and preserving freshness.
Calcium formate, as a new early strength agent, has a dual role. It can accelerate the hardening speed of cement and improve early strength, and avoid the slow setting speed in winter construction or low temperature and humidity, so that cement products can be put into use as soon as possible to improve strength, especially for early strength. For a long time, calcium chloride has been used in engineering, but calcium chloride has the effect of corroding steel bars. Chlorine-free coagulants have been developed both at home and abroad. Calcium formate is a new early strength material that can effectively accelerate the hydration of tricalcium silicate C3S in cement and increase the early strength of cement mortar, but it will not corrode steel bars and will not pollute the environment. Therefore, it is also widely used in oil field drilling and cementing.
Speed up the hardening of cement and shorten the construction period.
Shorten the setting time and form early.
Increase the early strength of mortar at low temperature.
Anti-freeze and anti-rust.
Calcium formate is a white or off-white crystalline powder. Under standard curing conditions, this product can make the concrete finally set within 4 hours. In about 8 hours, its strength can reach more than 5Mpa, which can make the cast-in-place concrete demoulding smoothly. While ensuring the early strength of mortar and concrete, it can make the later strength of mortar and concrete increase normally, and has no destructive effect on other technical properties of mortar and concrete.
It is used in tile adhesives, cement-based plaster mortar, repair mortar, waterproof mortar, thermal insulation mortar, wear-resistant floor and putty products to improve the density of the product and extend the open time. The amount of calcium formate added generally does not exceed 1.2% of the total mortar. Calcium formate has no incompatibility with other additives and can be mixed evenly with cement, sand and other additives in a mixer in a certain proportion.
Solubility in water (g/100ml)
Number of grams dissolved in 100ml water at different temperatures (℃): 16.1g/0℃; 16.6g/20℃; 17.1g/40℃17.5g/60℃; 17.9g/80℃; 18.4g/100℃
